Launched in October 2009, the Maldivian Development Programme at One & Only Reethi Rah, is an educational and practical experience programme for the Maldivian resort team members to enhance and develop their career growth within One & Only Reethi Rah. The programme provides strong operational experience, through a structured Management Development Programme for locals to compliment their hard work, commitment and loyalty towards One & Only Reethi Rah.
The Maldivian Development Programme consists of three initiatives –
- A Management Development programme that leads to higher educational programmes abroad.
- Sending Team Members to other One & Only Resorts.
- One&Only Apprenticeship programme.
In October 2009, One & Only Reethi Rah’s Assistant Villa Dining Manager, Firag Adam and Housekeeping Asstistant Manager, Ali Arafaath were sent to One&Only Le Saint Géran in Mauritius for three weeks to gain more operational knowledge and experience at another One&Only resort. Upon their return Firag Adam was promoted as Villa Dining Manager. So far this year five One & Only Reethi Rah team members have been sent to One & Only Le Saint Géran as part of the new cross exposure programme. Airport Manager, Hussain Waheed, Recreation Supervisor, Hassan Fayaz Moosa and Villa Host, Hassan Xahir completed their Cross Exposure at Mauritius.
In addition to the above, two other Team Members are currently studying in IHT Hotel School in Cape Town, South Africa. Front Office Supervisor, Ahmed Musthafa and Asst Restaurant Manager, Hamzath Abdulla are currently studying for a Diploma and Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management for two years on a block release basis.
One & Only’s commitment to developing young locals for the hospitality industry is also supported by the One & Only Apprenticeship programme launched in October 2009. Currently there are four team members on a one year training programme allocated to different operational departments. They have gone through three months of divisional training and their specialized training will continue until November of this year. One & Only Reethi Rah also offers a wide variety of training classes put together by the Training and Quality Assurance Team. The classes are conducted by experienced Resort Managers and outside consultants from around the world.
