Baros Divers offers the Discover Reef Check programme

Baros Maldives has been awarded Eco Dive Centre status by the official Reef Check organization, and is the first resort in the Maldives to offer the international Reef Check EcoDiver programme, which empowers people to save our reefs and oceans.

Becoming the first Eco Dive and training centre of the Maldives, Baros now offers guests EcoDiver courses which qualifies them to help EcoDive teams to monitor reefs worldwide.

The world’s reefs are changing at a startling rate and Baros Maldives guests can help ensure that reefs are still here and healthy for future generations. Baros Dive centre have put together a programme, which allows children and adults to learn more about tropical coral reefs and allows participants the rare opportunity to work with teams of scientists to combat the crisis affecting reefs worldwide.
Guests at Baros Maldives who are novice snorkelers or divers can enroll in the half-day Discover Reef Check Course, and those with more experience can enroll in a 3-day EcoDiver certification course. This qualifies guests to assist the professional teams in monitoring the reefs worldwide.

Using the globally standardized scientific protocol, the Reef Check EcoDive programme collects valuable data to establish the status of coral reefs. The data is analysed and used locally by marine managers, nationally by fisheries and environment managers, and internationally by organizations including United Nations agencies to help and take better care of coral reefs.

Baros Maldives is a lush, tropical island set in the shimmering waters of a shallow lagoon and surrounded by a reef vibrant with marine life. This romantic private island has 75 thatched villas, numerous dining locations, a dive centre, gym and spa to name a few of its extensive facilities.
