Chinese couple gone missing in resort

A Chinese couple staying in Noonu atoll Irufushi Resort went missing Tuesday morning while swimming, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said.

According to MNDF the 40-year-old man and the 38-year-old woman went missing while on the northern beach of the island, where they went for a swim with their 13-year-old child.

A MNDF media official, the three of them were together when the child walked off to collect seashells. The child reported to the resort staff, the official added.

The armed forces are searching for the missing couple.
