Cathay Pacific Airways has announced that it will launch a new four-times-weekly service to the Maldives, one of the most-sought-after getaways in the world for leisure travelers, local media announced in Male Tuesday.

The new service is scheduled to commence on Oct. 27, 2013, subject to the government approval.
Located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives is a chain of islands whose beauty is unsurpassed, with pristine white- sand beaches, azure seas and amazing coral reefs.
The islands are home to a rich marine life, including several endangered species, and are considered by many travelers as the perfect place for a honeymoon.
Visitors to the Maldives currently enjoy a free 30-day visa on arrival in the capital city Male.
To ensure that passengers enjoy the maximum comfort for their journey to the Maldives, Cathay Pacific will use an Airbus A330- 300 aircraft equipped with its award-winning Business Class, new Premium Economy Class and Long-haul Economy Class cabins.
Flights will depart from Hong Kong to Male International Airport every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Maldives attracted nearly 1 million tourists in 2012 with the largest component coming from China.
