Yoga Guru Katy Appleton takes diving to the next level

Situated in a secluded corner of the South Ari Atoll, the luxurious Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is surrounded by some of the world’s best dive sites. In order to improve guests’ under-water experiences, the resort has teamed up with Yoga guru Katy Appleton to offer unique ‘Dive and Yoga Bliss’ packages during her visit to the resort, from 20-30 October 2008.

A keen diver, Katy Appleton has long recognised the benefits of yoga as a tool to enhance the quality of her diving experience. Teaming up with the resort’s Sub Aqua Dive Centre, Katy will offer guests two course options: ‘Discover Scuba/Yoga’ for beginners and ‘Yoga Scuba’ for experienced and certified divers.

The beginners’ course will begin with 90 minutes practicing specific yoga techniques with Katy Appleton, focusing on breathing, meditation and relaxation techniques to assist with under-water relaxation. This will be followed by a diving programme in the resort’s beautiful shallow reef, accompanied by Katy Appleton and Sub Aqua Manager Alexis Vincent.

Those with previous dive experience can join Katy for 60 minutes of Yoga practice, focusing on relaxing the body and mind, in order to reduce air consumption and promote a more fulfilling experience. This will be followed by a boat dive, enabling participants to practice their newly acquired breathing skills.

Katy Appleton’s visit will form an integral part of the resort’s ‘Path to Balance’ retreat, held at the resort’s stand-alone destination Spa Retreat, from 20-30 October 2008. The retreat will offer guests at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island the opportunity to work with three inspirational holistic specialists, selected from the world’s best. Yoga specialist Katy Appleton will be joined by Energy Queen, Dorinda Roseberry and Reiki Master, Nikon Banjerdlert.

Guests can choose from a variety of Retreat options, from one-to-one sessions to extensive multi-day courses, combining spa treatments, fitness and yoga classes and consultations with visiting practitioners as well as the resorts’ Naturopath.

A Dive and Yoga Bliss session costs $200/£115. For further information on the retreat, please email spamaldives@conradhotels.com. For further details about Katy Appleton’s visit, please visit www.appleyoga.com.
