The number of tourist arrivals coming to Maldives has decreased in July this year when compared to the same period last year (July 2007), according to Tourism Ministry’s statistics.
According to the ministry’s statistics 47,675 tourists visited Maldives last June and that that 51,025 tourists visited Maldives in July of 2007. Ministry’s statistics shows a decrease of 3350 in 2008.
Although the number of tourist arrivals declined in July, there was a significant increase in the first seven months of the year. In this regard a total of 403,599 guests visited Maldives by the end of July this year. Some 393,540 tourists visited Maldives by the end of July last year.
According to Tourism ministry’s statistics, in July this year, most number of tourists were from European countries, in second place is Asian countries and in third place Middle East.
